Brooks (Gwendolyn) Park
Located at 4542 S. Greenwood Ave. in Chicago’s Kenwood neighborhood, Brooks (Gwendolyn) Park is a 2.56-acre park featuring four outdoor hard courts that double as dedicated pickleball courts with permanent lines and nets. Managed by the Chicago Park District, these courts are free to use on a first-come, first-served basis, making them a popular spot for tennis and pickleball players alike. Renamed in 2004 to honor Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Gwendolyn Brooks, a Chicago native, the park also includes a playground and a bust of its namesake. Ideal for casual play in a historic South Side community, it’s a welcoming space for all skill levels. For more information, call 312-747-7138.
